Discovering the Mont Saint Michel

It is recognizable from a distance thanks to its legendary silhouette! It is the Mont Saint Michel and it has been part of the decor for over a thousand years. A must-see for your camping holiday, the "Merveille de l'Occident" is the most frequented tourist site in Normandy. Each year, more than 3 million visitors come from all over the world to admire the abbey and bay of Mont Saint-Michel, both listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Mont-Saint-Michel abbey: a technical and artistic achievement

The Mont Saint Michel abbey is a fine example of medieval architecture from the eleventh to the sixteenth century, but also an ambitious building site of the Middle Ages. This Mount became over the centuries the most important place of pilgrimage in medieval Europe. A legendary architectural jewel, it stands on three main stories. At the top of the abbey, the church stands with its dazzling golden statue of the archangel Saint Michel. In summer, nightly visits (from 7pm to midnight) are scheduled every evening except on Sundays. This is how to give a magic touch to your camping evenings!

The medieval village of Mont-Saint-Michel

At the foot of the abbey, you will take an immense pleasure to walk in the cobbled alleys of the medieval village. Along a street lined with ancient houses of the XV and XVIth century in stone and timber frames, push the doors of the historical museums to know all the secrets of the Mount before joining the effervescence of the Grande Rue with its small shops, restaurants and lively atmosphere. To find more peace, escape along the promenade of the ramparts! You will have the chance to admire a magnificent view over the bay of Mont Saint-Michel as well as being in the front row to witness the grandiose spectacle of the great tides.
