Your stay

What payment methods are accepted?+-

You can pay by credit card (securely), cheque (made payable to SARL Etang des Haizes), bank transfer, cash or holiday vouchers/connect ANCV. We are not Vacaf-approved.

How do I pay the deposit for rentals?+-

A link to the secure Swikly website will be sent to you by email before your arrival. You can also pay the deposit on site by cheque, cash or credit card imprint.

Are dogs allowed?+-

Pets are allowed on pitches (€1/night) and in our Eco chalets (except in July and August). They must be kept on a lead and not left alone in the facilities.

Are motorhomes allowed?+-

Our campsite has stabilised pitches for motorhomes, with 10A electrical connections.

Are minors allowed on the campsite?+-

Yes, minors are allowed provided they present written parental authorisation signed by their parents and are accompanied by an adult upon arrival. The campsite rules must be strictly observed.

Can we choose our pitch?+-

Yes, you can let us know your preferences: shaded pitch, close to the toilets, next to friends, quiet or even a specific number. Simply specify your criteria when you make your booking, in the ‘Comments' section. We will do our best to accommodate your request, depending on availability at the time of booking. However, we cannot guarantee a specific pitch 100%

What are the check-in and check-out times?+-

For pitches, check-in is from 2pm and check-out is before 12 noon.

For rentals: in low season: arrival from 2 p.m. and departure before 11 a.m.

in high season: arrival from 4 p.m. and departure before 10 a.m.

Reception is open from 8.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. If you are going to be late, please let us know as soon as possible on 02.33.46.01.16 or by email info@campingetangdeshaizes.com.

What are the gate opening hours?+-

The gate is closed from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. If you arrive at the campsite during these hours, you will need to leave your vehicle in the car park at the entrance.

Can we have friends visit us at the campsite?+-

Yes, your guests must go to the campsite reception to pay the visitor fee (€6.00/person) in order to access the campsite. The visitor fee does not include access to the swimming pool or fishing.

On the campsite

Are there any conditions for accessing the swimming pool?+-

The swimming pool is open from 14 May to 31 August, from 10am to 8pm. The 4-lane slide is accessible in the afternoon.

Access to the swimming pool is included in your stay. It is reserved exclusively for guests staying at the campsite.

Please note: Children are the responsibility of their parents and must be supervised at all times.

What are the conditions for fishing in the lake?+-

The pond is free to access and reserved for campsite guests. Fishing is only permitted during the day, without a licence or fishing permit. We also ask that you limit yourself to two fishing rods per person, use barbless hooks and equip yourself with a landing net so as not to damage the fish.

Do you have any entertainment?+-

Every week, from 6 July to 25 August, we offer a programme of entertainment for young and old alike: group games, aqua dance, bingo, karaoke, concerts, quizzes, etc.

The mini-club for children aged 6 to 12 offers fun and creative activities in the morning and late afternoon.

Does the campsite have playgrounds and sports fields?+-

There are two playgrounds for younger children. For older children, there is a large field for ball games, a volleyball court, a table tennis room (rackets and balls not provided) and an outdoor area for gentle exercise.

Is it possible to hire equipment?+-

We offer the following items for hire: barbecue, fridge, picnic table, cot and high chair.

Do you have a snack bar?+-

Our snack bar is open from 14 May to 31 August. The snack bar serves chips, homemade burgers, Normandy stews, etc., in the evenings only, to eat in or take away. Bread and pastries are available in July and August, to be ordered the day before.

Is it possible to hire bicycles?+-

You can hire bicycles from our partner ‘Fais du vélo' in La Haye du Puits. They will deliver them to the campsite and collect them when you are ready to return them. You will find several suggested routes in the surrounding area at reception.

Is there Wi-Fi on the campsite?+-

The campsite has partial Wi-Fi coverage. You can buy tickets at reception or at the bar: £2/4 hours or £10/30 hours, charged by the second.

Can we have an additional vehicle?+-

We allow only one vehicle per pitch or rental accommodation. Additional vehicles must be reported and parked in the car park at the entrance to the campsite at an extra cost of £3 per night.

Are there any shops nearby?+-

The centre of La Haye du Puits is located 1 km from the campsite and is easily accessible on foot. You will find all the essential shops there: supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, delicatessens, cheese shops, banks, chemists, restaurants, etc.

When is market day?+-

The La Haye du Puits market takes place every Wednesday morning in the town centre. You can do your shopping there and discover local products.

Where is the nearest beach?+-

The nearest beach is Surville, 8 km away. There are also beaches at Bretteville sur Ay and Saint-Germain sur Ay, 10 km away.

Are dogs allowed on the beaches?+-

Dogs are allowed on certain beaches but must be kept on a leash. You can find a list of beaches at https://www.tourisme-cocm.fr/la-destination/nature/les-plages/.

What are some places to visit near the campsite?+-

You can discover the local and Norman heritage by visiting the Château de Pirou, the Cotentin mill, the Carteret lighthouse, the Sainte-Trinité Abbey in Lessay, the Maison de la Brique, Mont Castre in Lithaire, and more. You will find plenty of documentation and ideas for your excursions at our tourist information point. Our team knows the region well and can also provide you with information at reception.

Where is the greenway?+-

The campsite is located 800 metres from the greenway, which is accessible by bicycle or on foot for various destinations: Portbail, Lessay, Bricquebec, Saint-Sauveur le Vicomte, Carentan, etc. We can provide you with a map of the greenways at reception and advise you on your routes.

What D-Day sites and museums are worth visiting?+-

About 30 minutes from the campsite, the towns of Sainte-Mère Eglise and Carentan are historically known as being emblematic of the Normandy landings. There are various museums and themed attractions: D-Day Experience with its giant 3D screen, Airborne Museum (tickets available at reception), Normandy Victory Museum, Azeville Battery, the airship hangar, Utah Beach and the D-Day Museum. A wide range of brochures is available at our tourist information point.

What activities are available around the campsite?+-

Yes, there are many: sand yachting, canoeing and kayaking, exploring the Marais du Cotentin park, horse riding, golf, tree climbing, cinema, walking or cycling... Our team can provide you with information at reception.

How can I see a doctor?+-

You will find useful telephone numbers, including doctors' numbers, in the welcome booklet. In case of emergency, the campsite manager lives in the house next to reception. You can ring the bell or call 15 and they will advise you.
