At 50 km from the campsite, Cherbourg has everything to seduce you! Museums that delight young and old, parks and gardens of surprising beauty, an important historical heritage with the most beautiful and largest boats in the world in the background!

A little guided visit of Cherbourg...

Cherbourg has a remarkable architectural heritage. A small city getaway will allow you to admire the most beautiful monuments of the city such as the Cherbourg Italian theater, the Basilique Sainte-Trinité, not to mention the old transatlantic station, a masterpiece of Art Deco Which since 1933 has been home to the largest steamers. If you take a little more height, you will reach the Museum of the Liberation at the top of the mountain of the Roule de Cherbourg-Octeville. It's at 117 meters above sea level that the visitor can discovers the role played by Cherbourg, the first port freed by American troops, in the final victory of the Allied forces against Nazi Germany. After this visit, let yourself be tempted by an unusual underground hike in the heart of the mountain. Accompanied by a guide, you explore the Battery of the Roll and the fortifications dug during the Second World War. Expatriation assured! In a completely opposite way, the beaches of Cherbourg are not lacking either. Bathing, sand castles and water sports are at the rendez-vous. This city combines culture and relaxation in one day!

If you are looking for a family outing near the campsite, then the Cité de la Mer (City of the sea) will be unanimous. For a full day, you will experience the adventure of the oceans as never before by discovering all the secrets of the mythical Titanic, from its stopover in Cherbourg to the tragic night of the shipwreck. You can sneak aboard the Redoutable, the world's largest visable submarine. You will not know where to look in front of the aquariums populated by more than 1,200 fish coming from four corners of the sea including the impressive Aquarium Abyssal (10,70 m, the deepest in Europe!).
