During your camping holidays, Saint-Lô offers you some nice surprises. Located on the banks of the Vire, this beautiful city of memory and history has known how to cross the centuries and combine with brilliance history and modernity. If a large part of Saint-Lô was destroyed by the bombing in 1944, the medieval ramparts immediately plunge you into the heart of the medieval history of the city. An idea of a very picturesque stroll on the peninsula of Cotentin!

Saint-Lô and its battlements

Saint-Lô is a town full of history whose origins go back to the time of the Vikings. Later, it was Charlemagne who decided the first fortifications of the city in the year 800. Today, the visitors discover gladly the walk along ramparts... From the Tower of Beaux Regards (30 meters high) You will be able to admire an impregnable view on the city, the Vire and the surroundings. Continue towards the tower of La Poudrière, one of the oldest vestiges of Saint-Lô. A little further on is the Gothic church of Notre-Dame de Saint-Lô, a listed monuments building and a "memorial" of the destruction of the Second World War. Indeed, the Norman town was not spared by the bombing and the battle of Saint Lô was a long series of very deadly fights before its liberation the 18 of July of 1944.

Saint-Lô, the horse capital

Come and discover the national stud in Saint-Lô and magnificent horses in the prestigious setting of a beautiful architectural ensemble of the late nineteenth century. From April to September, the stud farm organizes guided tours and the children can even do their pony baptism! If you are passionate about horse riding, know that a 190 km route between the Haras National du Pin and the National Stud of Saint-Lô allows you to discover the most beautiful corners of Normandy!
